Scenes from a homebrew

Delicious
This past Saturday I had an opportunity to attend my first-ever homebrew at a friend’s apartment. My initial impression — aside from the fact that I thought it was awesome — was that the process was way more complex than I’d expected. However, in the end I think part of that had to do with the relative limitations of undertaking something as space-consuming as a homebrew within the confines of a New York City apartment.
The beer — which will be ready in about six weeks — is a Galaxy Single Hop IPA, and as a hop fiend, I absolutely cannot wait to try it. Galaxy hops — of which I sprinkled a few into the beers we were enjoying during the day — have the deep floral, citrusy smell that many of the best IPAs boast, and also taste fantastic. Below are a few photos from the process:

Spreadsheets + homebrewing = beer nerd heaven

Pouring grains into the mash tun

Hopping the wort

Adding hops post-boil

And still more hops!
